Grow, Heal, Repeat: A Garden of Cures Tale
The Art (and Joy!) of Growing Your Own Herbs and Healing Plants
Ever dreamt of snipping fresh basil from your own window box, brewing soothing teas with homegrown chamomile, or crafting simple remedies with lavender and calendula? Welcome to life with a little dirt under your nails and a whole lot of magic at your fingertips—welcome to Garden Of Cures!
As a proud one-woman business, I’m here to cheer you on as you cultivate your own edible and medicinal oasis. Why? Because growing herbs and healing plants isn’t just empowering—it’s downright transformative.
Here’s my secret recipe for an abundant, healing home garden:
• Start Small, Dream Big: Whether you have a sunny windowsill, a balcony, or a backyard patch, every space can become a mini pharmacy or gourmet kitchen. Choose easy herbs like basil, mint, parsley, or thyme to begin your journey.
• Harvesting Happiness: The best time to snip your herbs is just before they flower, when their oils and flavors are at their peak. Morning is ideal—herbs are at their perkiest and fullest of life-giving goodness!
• Drying to Perfection: Gather your harvest into small bunches, tie them gently with twine, and hang upside down in a dry, airy space away from direct sunlight. In about 1–2 weeks, you’ll have fragrant, ready-to-use herbs for teas, tinctures, or culinary masterpieces.
• Healing at Hand: Infuse dried herbs in olive oil for a calming salve, brew them into teas for sipping serenity, or sprinkle on your meals for a burst of flavor and health. Nature’s medicine cabinet is open for business!
• Save Those Seeds!: Let a few plants flower and go to seed. Collect and store seeds in a paper bag, labeled and dated, for next season’s abundance. Sharing seeds means sharing hope and health.
