Commonly called "Bee Plant," this unique flower is highly attractive to bees inviting pollinators and beneficial insects to the garden. Soft, lavender blue flowers open in an unfolding curl that is beautiful and fun to watch. I think it looks like a caterpillar with flowers. A California native wildflower, it thrives in moist, well-drained soil in cooler, partial-shade conditions, but also tolerates full sun.
Best direct seed in soil in spring.
